André de Bruin was Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Quidel Corporation in San Diego, California, a public IVD company engaged in the business of providing diagnostic solutions at the point-of-care, until 2004. He served as Quidel's CEO from June, 1998 until August 8, 2001. Prior to joining Quidel, Mr. de Bruin was President and Chief Executive Officer of Somatogen, Inc., a publicly held bio-pharmaceutical company, based in Boulder, CO. He joined the company in mid-1994 and was elected Chairman of the Board in January 1996. Baxter International, Inc. acquired Somatogen in May 1998. Prior to joining Somatogen, Mr. de Bruin was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boehringer Mannheim Corporation, a U.S. subsidiary of Corange Ltd., a private, global health care corporation, subsequently acquired by Hoffman-La Roche. He held that position since 1989. Mr. de Bruin served on the Board of Directors of Molecular Staging Inc., a private company based in New Haven, CT., engaged in the research and development of genomic and proteomic technology for the life sciences markets, until its acquisition by Qiagen in 2005. He also serves as an advisor to Ferrer, Freeman and Thompson, a healthcare investment firm in Greenwich, Connecticut and in that capacity serves on the Board of Directors of Genova Diagnostics in Asheville, NC a portfolio company of FFandCo. In the early '90's Mr. de Bruin also served on the Board of Directors of Dianon Systems Inc. and on the Board of Methodist Hospital of Indiana, at the time the third largest not-for-profit hospital in the United States. He was also a member of the Board of Advisors of the Indiana University School of Medicine. He has been involved in the global health care industry for more than 30 years in pharmaceuticals, devices and diagnostics. Mr. de Bruin graduated from the University of Potchefstroom in South Africa in Finance, Economics and Business. |
